Chitwan, March 24, 2017: The finale of the first edition of the Mrs Chitwan beauty pageant will take place on Monday, March 27. The finale will have a total of 19 contestants, of age group 25-40, vying for the title.
Speaking to the Post, one of the coordinators of the pageant, Durga Ghimire, said, “There are a host of beauty pageants being held in Chitwan already, all of which focus on the young girls. Why is this prejudice against the married? With Mrs Chitwan, we aim to provide a platform for married women to show their talents.”
The 19 finalists, who were selected out of 29 participants, are currently going through various rounds of personality development workshops and trainings, mentored by media personality and choreographer Jayan Manandhar. Speaking about the proceedings, Manandhar said, “The training so far has been really good. All the women, who previously were mostly homemakers, are showcasing their talents and for me it’s been a really humbling experience.”
One of the contestants, Sushma Tamang, who is a beautician by profession, said, “I juggle my profession, and taking care of home and family, so I barely can manage the time to explore my talents. Mrs Chitwan has helped me showcase my talent and boost my confidence.”
The winner of the pageant will be presented with a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
