Surkhet, 25th December,2014 : The Madhyapashchim University (MU) has decided to decrease its fees as it was blamed for charging high fees on courses it offers.
A task force formed to review the fees recommended the university executive committee to slash the fees and this decision
was made, said Registrar Dr Mahendra Malla at the university.
With this decision, students from poor classes are expected to benefitted as most of the student unions were exerting pressures to decrease the fees since the establishment of the university.
The fees have been decreased up to 90 per cent in different faculties and it would be effective from the next session, said university vice chancellor Kali Prasad Pandey.Â The fees and curriculum would be timely reviewed, VC Pandey added.
The university has been providing affiliations to the new colleges in different 15 districts of the Midwestern Development Region and so far, it has provided affiliations to some campuses in Banke, Bardiya, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Rukum, Mugu and Surkhet.
With the new decision, a civil engineering student has to pay Rs 325,000 for completing the course as against the earlier course fee of Rs 624,000.
Similarly, a BBA student has to pay Rs 188,170 as against Rs 265,170 in the past.
