Kathmandu, Feb 3, 2015: A musical fund raising event was organised for YUWA named as ” The Night For Booketing”Â on Saturday, 31st January, 2015 Trisara, LazimpatÂ to establish libraries in different Government Schools in rural parts of Nepal.
This fundraising event was one among other Booketing Project organised by YUWA. The program was very overwhelming with croweded audience at the premises of Trisara. The main Â highlight of the program was a puppet show by puppet team of Yuwa. The puppet show was a story of a boy studying in class 9, who is stellar in studies living in remote area of Nepal and want to be a pilot. His family is economically backward and his father is not able to pay for his further study. The story end happily when a Booketing truck full of books comes to his village and his dream for higher studies starts to come true.
BOOKETING Project is a YUWA initiative project with a mission to collect book in order to establish libraries and support students in rural areas of Nepal and targeted to those students who are devoid of books and other reading materials.Â It is a solely voluntary zero-cost youth initiative.Â Previous Booketing projects involved YUWA screening different social documentaries at Colleges inside and outside the valley and in order to watch the documentary, the participants had to bring a book as a ticket. Hence, the name â€œBooketingâ€: book + ticket.
An emerging band â€œThe Nightâ€ performed songs from their new album â€œAniUkali, SangaiOraliâ€ and other musical band and solo performances entertained audience with soulful music in the chilling night.
In the first Booketing Project, a total of 3100 books were donated toÂ JeevanJyoti Higher Secondary School, Manakamana VDC of Syangja district Nepal on November 2011, 1500 books toÂ Shree Mallika Higher Secondary School, Mandi VDC, Bajura district Nepal on April 2012 in second booketing project and 1600 boks on April 2012 to Shree Public Higher Secondary School, Dhanigau â€“ Banigau VDC, Morang district Nepal on October 2012. In March 2013, 2600 books was donated toÂ Laxmi Narayan Secondary School, ShikharAmbote VDC, Kavre district of Nepal and 3000 books to Â Shree Shanti Secondary School, PithauliRudauli VDC, Nawalparasi district Nepal on May 2014.
