My candidacy for national unity, prosperity and development: PM candidate Oli

Kathmandu, 11 October 2015: CPN (UML) chair and candidate for the post of the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that his candidacy for the post of PM was for national unity, consensus and the development of the nation.
While sharing about his candidacy for the post of the PM under the Constitution Article No 298 (3) and Legislature-Parliament Interim Working Procedure 2072, clause 19 (3), PM candidate Oli said that the political parties completed their historical responsibility by issuing a democratic constitution by following democratic norms and values. He added he filed his candidacy for the post as per the need of the hour to implement the new constitution and lead the nation ahead.

Chair Oli said that the constitution was issued on the basis of maximum consensus among the political parties. However, chair Oli expressed his discomfort on the discontinuation of the co-work and consensus. He said that he filed his candidacy with the support of various political parties. He remembered his party’s support as he himself had seconded Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala’s candidacy during the formation Koirala led government.

Leader Oli expressed his commitment to go ahead with support, consensus of all parties to lead the nation ahead. He added that he would continue to co-work and consensus with Nepali Congress in the days ahead even to strengthen national unity and prosperity implement the new constitution.

UML chair Oli added that there are about over 100 laws to be formulated, constitution has to be amended to address the right demands of disgruntled forces. He added that there were the need of to modernize the agriculture sector, to run the transparent and responsible activities, maximum utilization of natural resources, trade promotion, tourism development, attracting foreign investment among others to make the prosperous nation.

Chair Oli added that his wish was to maintain social harmony, maintaining diplomatic ties on the basis of equality by clarifying misunderstanding between neighbouring countries even to ease the supplies.
Formation of social justice and equality based nation was his wish, he added. Chair Oli urged Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala to withdraw his candidacy and to support him as some NC leaders were in favour of consensus and co-work.
He urged all to elect him to the post of PM and clarified that he was not against the Madhesi and Tharu people though it was only the illusion spread against him. His candidacy was even to address the issues of terai, marginalized, minorities, Muslim among other disadvantageous groups.
He further clarified his candidacy was to unite all in the thread of national unity, maintain harmonious bilateral and multilateral relations.

Politics is a game of possibility: Dahal

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who proposed Chairman Oli for the candidate to the post of the Prime Minister, said that he has stood in favour of Oli to materialize the agreements, saying politics was the game of possibility.

Stating that the new government to be formed after the promulgation of the new constitution has a great importance and responsibility for the implementation of the constitution, Chair Dahal clarified that he was of stance that a national consensus had to be forged by collaborating with agitating parties in Madhes.

He also expressed sadness over creating untruthful environment by President of the Nepali Congress filing his candidacy to the post of Prime Minister once again even after signing 16-point agreement.

Chairman Dahal said that there was no alternative to all political parties to move ahead joining hands to protect the country from crisis. Support to Oli for the protection of national sovereignty: Chairman Thapa

Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)-Nepal, Kamal Thapa, has said that they have supported Chairman Oli to the post of Prime Minister for the protection of the national sovereignty in view of national need.

Thapa said, “People have been hit hard due to border blockade. Foreign interference has further risen.” He said unity among national forces was necessary to settle the existing problem. Stating that role of the three major political parties was essential to forward the peace process and promulgate the new constitution, Chairman Thapa there was no alternative to unity for the implementation of new constitution.

He said, “The country is now in difficult situation after the national forces have been divided. The situation where the major political parties are divided instead of moving ahead together through unity and consensus has not shown a good indication.”

Likewise, Dipak Bohara, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Parliamentary Party leader, urged the political parties not to disrupt the unity, as unity among all political parties is a must to resolve existing problems facing the nation.

He clarified that his party decided to support CPN-UML in Prime Ministerial elections after the Nepali Congress walked out of the 16-point agreement struck among major political parties in the past. He also urged the NC to participate in the consensus process and review its earlier decisions.

Likewise, CPN (ML) General Secretary Chandra Prakash Mainali stressed on the need for a unity among political parties for proper implementation of the newly promulgated constitution brought out through the people elected representative’s forum, Constituent Assembly, after about eight-year long political upheavals.

He was of the view that a national consensus government should be formed through agreement among major political parties to give a way out of current political crisis including the restrictions by India on the border.

Similarly, Bishwendra Paswan, Chairman of Bahujan Shakti Party, said that his party supported UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli in the PM elections for proper implementation of the constitution and country’s prosperity.
He viewed that the rights of labourers and farmers should be institutionalised, apart from proportional representation of women, Janajatis, indigenous, Dalits and marginalised communities in state organs.
Shiva Lal Thapa, chairman of the Rastriya Janamukti Party, Nepal, rued ‘the failure’ for proper implementation of the new constitution and reconstruction of buildings ravaged by the April 25 earthquake due to a lack of consensus among major political parties.

Prem Bahadur Singh, chairman of the Samajwadi Dal, said that his party supported UML Chairman Oli in the Prime Ministerial elections as ‘Oli has capacity enough to move the country towards prosperity and development’.                                                                                                                                                                                  Source RSS
