Myagdi to observe the International Day of People with Disability

Beni (Myagdi),3 Dec 2014: Myagdi district which arguably has the biggest number of differently able people in the country is to mark the International Day of the People with Disability amid various programmes.

The International Day of the People with Disability falls on December 3 and the theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Sustainable Development: the Promise of Technology.’

Some 6,000 disables have been registered here, according to the National Federation of the Disabled (NFD), Nepal, Myagdi branch.

It was appraised during the 12th General Assembly of the NFD, Myagdi, held on Tuesday.

Inaugurating the assembly, Harikrishna Acharya, the Social Development Officer at the District Development Office, Myagdi, opined that the conscious group of people should help the people with disability also known as differently able people.

Officer Acharya also underscored the need to address the issues of the differently able people by the State, by providing the basic aide as wheelchair, white stick, crutches and the Braille script among others to begin with.
