Kathmandu, September 13, 2016: Nepal Airlines aircraft has suffered tyre burst while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Tuesday afternoon, according to sources at TIA.
Eyewitnesses told THT that an Airbus 320 had a providential escape after it was landing at TIA at 12:40pm. The plane which arrived from Indira Gandhi International Airport suffered a minor damage after the major landing gear was detached, they added.
The aircraft piloted by Captain Vijay Lama and co-pilot Sanjay Poudel was force-landed and all 150 passengers including an infant and eight crew members were safe, the TIA sources added.
TIA authority closed the runway following the incident. Passengers were disembarked and the runway is being cleared by towing the ill-fated aircraft.
NAC has also cancelled all Airbus-sector flights to New Delhi, Dubai, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Mumbai until further notice. “The national flag carrier is trying to reschedule few flights as it has now only one Boeing-757 for international operations.â€
Confirming the incident, NAC’s spokesperson Ram Hari Sharma told THT that he was trying to get details.
