Kathmandu,9 Feb 2015: The government is to organise various programmes for celebrating the 65th National Democracy Day in a grand manner.

A meeting among the members of the 65th National Democracy Day Celebration Main Committee chaired by Home Secretary Surya Silwal who is also the member of the Main Committee today discussed on the works to be carried out by the different sub-committees under the main committee.

The programmes planned for the Day range from public awareness raising ones to live coverage of the main programme by the different media.

The meeting also discussed on the preparations and the works to be done to that regard by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Nepalese Army, the Police Headquarters, the Armed Police Force Headquarters, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City, the Bhaktapur Municipality, the Madhyapur Thimi Municipality and the Kirtipur Municipality, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, the Department of Printing and the Central Region Education Directorate.

Discussions were also held on the responsibilities of the Valley Building Construction and Maintenance Division Office, the Nepal Red Cross Society and the Bir Hospital, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Nepal Television, Radio Nepal, the Guthi Sansthan, the National Sports Council, Nepal Scouts, the Samarjung Company Office of the Nepal Army, the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited and the Marwadi Sewa Samiti Nepal, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts in connection with the preparations and works to be carried out for celebrating the Day.

In course of the discussions, Home Secretary Silwal said the designated bodies should play an effective role on the occasion of the Democracy Day. According to him, the national flags and banners would be installed, and cleaning carried out on February 18 and the Nepalese Army will shower flowers from helicopter and demonstrate different shows and games on February 19 while panel discussions and art exhibition would be held on February 20.
