Kathmandu, September 18: The Nepali National Karate team let for South Korea Thursday for a preparatory training in Japan before participating in the 17th Asian Sports Competition (ASIAD) scheduled in the Incheon city,South Korea.
The National Sport Council Member -Secretary Yuvraj Lama and Nepali Karate Federation Chairman Dawa Gurung bade farewell to the 10-membernational Karate team and wished for their success.
Aming the male athletes Bijaya Lama will compete in the 55 kg category, Mukunda Maharjan in 67 kg category , Bibash Shrestha in 75 kg and Parshuram Bastola will comete in Single (Kata) . In girl’s category , Anu Adhikari will ply in the 50 kg category, Mallika Thapa in the 55 kg, Gangadevi Adhikari in the 68 kg and in the single (Kata) Chanchala Dunuwar.
The team manager is Hari Sharan KG, Deepak Shrestha and Akbar Shah in coach. The team will head towards Japan for a 10 day preparatory training with the Japanese national team before moving on to the South Korea.
Former Karate Playerand coach Mrigendra Bahadur Singh provided the tracksuits worth Rs.55,000 for the team.
Meanwhile, preparations for the upcoming two day Mr. HImalaya National Open Body Building Competition have been completed. The Nepal Body Building and Fitness Association will organize the competition beginning Friday at the National Sports Council Covered Hall, informed Dinesh Raj Bhandari, General Secretary of the Association .
