Kathmandu, January 23, 2017:Â National Youth Campaign is going to organize theÂ first National Menâ€™s Volleyball Running Shield Tournament from February 21-24.
The tournament is being held to encourage the players and provide a platform to them with the platform.
A total of eight teams: three departmental and fiveÂ development regionals will take part in the tournament which is the biggest event in terms of cash prizes, informed National YouthÂ Campaign Spokesperson Tekendra Joshi at a press meet on Sunday.
The top two teams will bag Rs 350,000 and RsÂ 200,000 respectively, while the two losing semi-finalists will receive Rs 50,000 each. The best player of the tournament will take away RsÂ 25,000, while fair play team and best individuals will receive Rs 10,000 each.
Tournament coordinator Kumar Gurung informed that the eventÂ will cost Rs 2.2 million and participating teams will be provided withÂ accommodation and transportation expenses apart from daily allowance of Rs 200 for the players.
Nepal Volleyball Association President Manoranjan Raman Sharma expressed happiness for the association with National Youth Campaign. Speaking on the occasion, he urged the authorities to declare volleyball as the national sport.
