National Youth Assembly begins in the capital


Kathmandu, March 29, 2017: As many as 500 youths from across the nation are participating the National Youth Assembly(NYA) 2017 that is ongoing today at Nepal Administrative Staff College, Jawalakhel.

Organized by Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON) in collaboration with its member organizations, the conference provides a platform for youths from across the country to gather together, gain and share the ideas on various perspectives to enhance the constructive role of the youth in the contemporary socio-political context and development.

The programme seeks to contribute to the development of a new strategic framework for the integration of youth movement and serve to define a clear role that young people can play in the process of social transformation. It also thrives to reach out to the youths across the nation and address their common voice in enhancing their own capacity and lead the process of development.

The assembly will see thematic discussions on ‘Implementation and Accountability of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Role of Youths in localization and leaving no one behind’, and ‘Constructive Role of Youth in current Socio-Political development (Upcoming Local and Federal Elections, Federalism and Constitutional debate, and Social Harmony)’.

Youth Festival, Plenary Session on SDGs, Plenary Session on Contemporary Socio-Political Debates, Speed Mentoring, Skill Building Workshops, Expression of Ideas through Music, Painting our Future (Expression of youth vision through arts), and Idea Fest are the major highlights of the festival. Also, flash mob, interactive street theater, motivational sessions, and documentary screening would entertain the participating youths.
