Kathmandu, 4 October 2015: Office bearers meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) held at Prime Minister’s residence at Baluwatar in the Capital this morning has decided to hold consultations in all party-meeting to form a consensus government as far as possible.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, NC Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel shared that discussions would be held today, among major three political party leaders, on the matter beforehand, and then the matter would be taken up in the all party-meeting of 32 political parties represented in the Legislature-parliament thereafter.
He said that they would choose to only resort to the second option (majority government) to give a way out in case of a failure to garner agreement to form consensus one. It may be noted that President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has called on the political parties in the parliament to pick a Prime Minister within seven days, responding to the request of sitting Prime Minister Sushil Koirala’s to select new PM as per the new constitution on October 2. NC leader Poudel said that they were trying to form a consensus government. When asked whether there was a gentlemen agreement among major political party leaders, in the course of reaching 16-point agreement among them in May 29, to pick CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli as Prime Minister of the new government, Poudel said that he was unaware of the matter.
Discussions were also held, in the meeting, about preparations of upcoming NC general convention and forming party statute based on new federal structures of the country. RSS
