Biratnagar, 14th February, 2015 : Nepali Congress Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel has called the opposition parties to hold talks for constitution writing by coming back to the Constituent Assembly.
Vice-President Poudel expressed the view that the opposition parties should be active to forge consensus through talks, so that the time of postponement of the CA meeting could be utilized.
At a news conference organised by Nepal Press Union, Morang, at Biratnagar-based residence of the late Prime Minister GP Koirala, today, he urged the opposition parties to move ahead for concrete result by utilizing the time that the CA meeting was postponed for 8-10 days. It was postponed in a bid to make broader debate on disputed contents of the constitution and seek amicable agreement for the new constitution.
Poudel expressed the determination that the new statute acceptable to all would be promulgated through two-thirds majority if the consensus was not forged.
He made it clear that the ruling parties are serious to safe land the transition as it is the biggest challenge at present.
Stating that the parties including the UCPN (Maoist) have been launching agitation without agenda, the NC Vice-president called them to move ahead for consensus by withdrawing the protest programmes.
