Kathmandu: The Visit Nepal Year 2020 Secretariat has signed a seven-point agreement and selected Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) as its second ‘official carrier partner.’
According to the agreement, both sides will organize publicity programs on travel and tourism trade fairs and sales missions organized by the secretariat. The Secretariat hosts promotional events in the countries where NAC operates direct flight services. Currently, NAC is operating direct flights to Delhi, Bangkok, Dubai, Mumbai, Osaka, Hong Kong, Bangalore, Doha and Kuala Lumpur.
The agreement was signed by Bachchu Narayan Shrestha, member secretary of VNY 2020 Secretariat, and NAC official Archana Khadka at an event held at the secretariat.
According to NAC, the agreement has also mentioned that both parties will promote each other’s websites, letter pads, event banners and other official activities. The agreement also states that NAC should include destination promotion contents its in-flight magazine and also agreed to provide free tickets to tourists and tour operators, celebrities, influencers and special guests visiting Nepal at events hosted by the VN 2020 Secretariat.
The Secretariat had earlier appointed Turkey Airlines as the official airline partner on December 20 to promote the European countries. At that time, the appointment of an official airline partner by the VNY 2020 Secretariat was criticized bypassing the national flag carrier for a national tourism campaign.
NAC believes the partnership with VNY 2020 Secretariat will be mutually beneficial.
