Nepal and Malaysia signs MoU for labor supply

Kathmandu, October 30, 2018: Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security Gokarna Bista and Malaysian Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran signed the MoU for recruitment and employment of Nepali workers in Malaysia.

According to the agreement, the company who will recruit workers from Nepal will pay the salaries through banking channel and have to deposit money on seventh day of the month. The employer companies will bear all the expenses and charges of recruitment, two-way faire, visa, health check-up, security screening, accommodation throughout contract period. The contract period has been reduced to two years which was three years before.

The MoU also mentions that workers will have right to change jobs if the company goes bankrupt or makes worker work on undue pressure. Moreover, the company has to allow worker to return to Nepal if any family member dies here on leave with maximum of 15 days and Malaysian government will provide equal treatment to Nepali worker for heath insurance, accident insurance, security and other accidents.

Malaysian Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran said that all the norms and guidelines will be followed stated according to the International Labour Organisation for all foreign workers.
