Kathmandu, Oct 28,2014: Nepal today defeated the US by 10 runs in the fourth match played under the Division 3 of the ICC World Cricket League in Malaysia.
Nepal won the match played at the Kinrara Oval on Duckworth Lewis rule after the rain interrupt the play. As per the rule, Nepal was required to make 65 runs in 22 overs.
The American team chose to bat after winning the toss and made 223 runs at the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs.
Nepal chasing the target of 224 for the win had scored 73 runs in 22 overs with the loss of one wicket before rain stopped play.
The game came to a halt after the rain and was thus decided with the application of the Duckworth Lewis method. The same match had been postponed yesterday due to rain.
Subash Khakurel scored the highest for Nepal with 49 runs while Vice Captain Gyanendra Malla scored 22 runs.
Nepal has secured a spot in the Division 2 with its win over the US. Nepal won three matches and lost one in the total of four games. Nepal is in the top of the points table of the competition with six points. Nepal had previosly defeated Bermuda and Singapore while losing against Uganda.
Uganda also secured six points but has been placed in the second spot as determined by the comparative run rate of the two teams. Nepal will play against Malaysia tomorrow.
