Kathmandu, Aug. 9:  Nepalese football team will be facing Maldives in the inaugural match under the 3rd SAFF U-16 Championship on August 10. The championship is scheduled for August 9-18 in Sylhet in Bangladesh. Nepalese foot ball team is all set to nail down the tournament.The national Under-16 football team have already left for Bangladesh on August 6 for the biennial tournament

The tournament comprising of six countries—Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Maldives—has been divided in two groups.

Of the groups, Nepal, Afghanistan and Maldives are in Group ‘B’ while defending champions India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are in Group ‘A’.  Further,the top two teams from each group will make it to the semi-finals. However, Pakistan and Bhutan will not be taking part this time.
