Kathmandu, Aug. 9: Â Nepalese football team will be facing Maldives in the inaugural match under the 3rd SAFF U-16 Championship on August 10. The championship is scheduled for August 9-18 in Sylhet in Bangladesh. Nepalese foot ball team is all set to nail down the tournament.The national Under-16 football team have already left for Bangladesh on August 6 for the biennial tournament
The tournament comprising of six countriesâ€”Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Maldivesâ€”has been divided in two groups.
Of the groups, Nepal, Afghanistan and Maldives are in Group ‘B’ while defending champions India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are in Group ‘A’. Â Further,the top two teams from each group will make it to the semi-finals. However, Pakistan and Bhutan will not be taking part this time.
