NEPAL-INDIA PTA TALKS BEGINS IN NEW DELHI

Kathmandu, Sept 3: Bilateral talks between Nepal and India on power trade agreement (PTA) started in New Delhi, India, on Wednesday.Secretary at the Ministry of Energy Rajendra Kishor Chhetri is leading the Nepali delegation while India’s Energy Secretary PK Sinha is leading the Indian talks team.

 The Nepali talks team had left here for New Delhi on Wednesday itself. During the Nepal visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month, an agreement was held to strike the PTA within 45 days.Top level officials of Ministry of Energy, Nepal Electricity Authority, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry Law and Nepal’s chargé d’affaires to India are also taking part in the PTA talks.The PTA would be signed as per the draft of a political taskforce prepared by leaders of major three political parties. All the decisions will be made on consensus of involved parties.
