Nepal-Japan Agreement to Provide Rs. 308 Million Grant

Kathmandu, October 7, 2018:  Government of Japan agrees to provide a grant of Rs. 308 million to Nepal. The aim of providing the grant is for assisting in the School Sector Development Programme (SSDP) of Nepal for the fiscal year 2018.

Ministry of Finance released the press statement that states Exchange of Notes, Grant Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding to this implementation were signed and exchanged by Mr. Shreekrishna Nepal who is Joint Secretary at Ministry of Finance on behalf of the Nepalese Government and Mr. Masamichi Saigo who is Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, on behalf of the Japanese Government.

SSDP is a continuation of School Sector Reform Programme (SSRP) under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology which aims to improve the quality, equitable access and efficiency on the basic and secondary education in Nepal. SSDP works with improvision of teaching-learning and student learning outcomes, improvising equitable access to basic and secondary education and strengthening the education system, sector planning, management and governance.

The programme is a seven-year period program that was initiated in the fiscal year 2016/17. The Nepalese government appreciated the Japanese Government for the assistance for supporting the socio-economic development of Nepal.
