Nepal Management Symposium 2017 kicks off

Kathmandu, May 9, 2017: Nepal Management Symposium (NMS) officially kicked off today morning at Hotel Radisson in Kathmandu. NMS is a two-day event of Kathmandu College of Management organized by KCM Student Council with the aim to educate participants to help them get aware of the current scenario and opportunities available in the market by providing a platform for the professionals and students to explore emerging issues and gaps.

Minister for Industry Nabindra Raj Joshi inaugurated the event that is being organized with the theme of “where managers of today and tomorrow converge”. Speaking on the occasion, Joshi said, “The most important thing is sincerity. Do whatever you wish for, but make it successful. Put all your hard work and dedication into it. We all have a built in quality. Nepal is a land of opportunities, which is open for foreign investment.”

Similarly, Dr. Ajit Ranade, Chief Economist of Aditya Birla Group lighted the stage with his presence, with a quote, “Don’t confine yourself to a certain boundary, half of the life of the younger generation is confined in digital world such as Facebook, Snapchat, etc. Whenever we set a mindset, it should be a global mindset.”

The symposium has been divided into four sessions: Financial Economics, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Branding, Leadership and Management. The first day comprised of Financial Economics and Entrepreneurship sessions. “Financial Economics” was the first session of the symposium followed by Entrepreneurship session. Speakers of the first day sessions included people like Nirvana Chaudhary, Managing Director of CG, Willem Grimminck, Director at One to Watch, and Anil Shah from Bankers Association of Nepal.

The second day 10th of May, will have two sessions namely Marketing & Branding, and Leadership & Management. The first session for the second day is “Marketing and Branding”, which aims to provide participants with a clear insight on how the marketers of today are adapting to the ever changing landscape and what skills are aiding them in the process. Dr. Harsh V. Verma, Faculty Member of FMS Delhi University will also be speaking in the session. The second session of the day is “Leadership and Management”, which aims to cater to the forthcoming generation of managers to perform creatively in a contemporary context. The Managing Director of Buddha Air, Birendra Bahadur Basnet will be speaking in this session.

The panelists of all the session are from relevant areas. Each session comprises of speaker’s presentation, panel discussion and Q&A round. Every session will be followed by a networking session where industry participants get to interact with young minds interested in their respective areas.
