Nepal Shows Positive Increment in the Economic Freedom Report

Kathmandu, September 26, 2018: Nepal shows positive increment in the position in the Economic Freedom Report where Nepal ranked 102nd out of 162 countries.

Last year, the rank of Nepal in the chart was 107th. The data was included in the Economic Freedom of the World 2018 Annual Report which was released by Samridhhi Foundation in conjunction with Canada’s Fraser Institute on its 11th consecutive year of data publication. Economic Freedom of World ranks countries and territories by measuring the degree of the policies and institutions of countries supporting economic freedom.

The five key components that Nepal scored the rank are :Size of government which dropped to 7.9 from 8.1 in last year’s report, Legal system and property rights which climbed to 4.6 from 4.5, Access to sound money which is as it was, on 6.4, Freedom to trade internationally which slid to 6.6 from 6.8 and Regulation of credit, labour and business which climbed to 7.1 from 6.7.
