Nepali young entrepreneurs gear up to bring American investment in Nepal

California, June 7, 2017: With an objective to facilitate American investment in Nepal, young Nepali entrepreneurs have held a meeting with the U.S. Representative from California State, Mr. Eric Michael Swalwell, Jr.

Nepal’s Honorary Tourism Consulate for Silicon Valley Prakash Thapa had led the team comprising young entrepreneurs Sushil Pokharel, Gyanendra Khadka, Bhuparaj Pathak and Mangal Raj Tamang to meet the Congressman Swalwell. During the meeting, they briefed about the immense opportunity in Nepal for the investment.

On the occasion, Pokharel made a brief presentation about the investment opportunities in hydropower and infrastructure sector residing in Nepal. He further requested Mr. Swalwell to facilitate the potential American investors for the investment.

Congressman Swalwell expressed pleasure for possible opportunity to enter in developing country like Nepal. He represents Democratic Party after winning the election from 15th district of California. Consulate Thapa also gifted Nepali Dhaka cap to him before giving him the invitation to visit Nepal.

Young entrepreneurs along with Sushil Pokharel are in the US for a dialogue with potential American investors.

Pokharel informed to Glocal Khabar that they have already held talks with representatives of government and non-government sectors of California, Texas, New York and Washington. Pokharel is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sushmit Group; which is working in different sectors like hydropower, tourism, and broadcast solution trading.

Earlier last week, the team had met Nepal’s Honorary Consulate for California Rishi Dhakal requesting him to play the role of facilitator in bringing home the investment.
