Nepal’s batting frailties exposed in Dutch defeat

August 14, 2016: Netherlands defeated Nepal by seven wickets in the ICC Cricket World League Championship match on Saturday.

The Dutch side completed the 95 runs target set by Nepal in the 17 over losing just three wickets.

Losing the toss and batting first, Nepali batting collapsed and they were bowled out for just 94 runs at VRA Ground in Amstelveen.

Opener Anil Kumar Mandal topscored with 20 runs followed by Sharad Bheswakar on 14. Gyanendra Malla (11) and Sompal Kami (12) were the only other to reach a double-digit score.

Dutch bowlers T van der Gugten and Michael Rippon produced valiant display with three wicket apiece. Roelof van der Merwe also took two while Mudassar Bukhari and Paul van Meekeren had one each.

Stephan Myburgh (33) and Wesley Barresi (37) helped complete the chase with more than 33 overs remaining.

Netherlands lead the eight-team table with Nepal placed at sixth spot.

A top four finish will ensures automatic berth to the 2018 ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
