Nepal’s first animated movie special screening on December 31


Kathmandu, December 28, 2016: The Legend of Shankhadhar, Nepal’s first animated feature film is having a special screening on December 31. Gwahali, a development and humanitarian relief organization is hosting the screening at Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal, Khichapokhari, to support for a cause.

Available in Nepalbhasha and Nepali language with English subtitles, the movie is a biopic on Shankhadhar Shakhwa, an ordinary merchant from Kathmandu who cleared everyone’s debt and started Nepal’s original era, Nepal Sambat, on 2oth October 879 AD.

The special screening is being conducted for Akshyaranka Shikshya Kosh, a collective campaign to collect petty cash from generous people as daily saving to help children with educational resources. And, the fund raised from the movie screening will be utilized to support an educational journey of 100 children from a marginalized community by providing scholarships and educational resources.

The movie was released in UK and USA on December 11, 2016.
