Kathmandu, January 2, 2017: Nepal’s journey into SAFF Women’s Championship is over after it lost against India in the semifinal match played on Monday.

Though Sabitra Bhandari scored a goal in the match being held in Siliguri, it was not sufficient for Nepal to defeat the host India. Bhandari’s was the only goal from Nepal while India scored 3 goals.

Nepal had reached the semifinal by winning over Bhutan, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka without letting the opponents to score a single goal. The scores were 8-0, 9-0 and 1-0 respectively.

While India won all three previous editions of the regional tournament, Nepal was the runner-up every time in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
