Nepal’s win over Canada leads to the entrance in ICC World Cup Qualifiers

Kathmandu, February 15, 2018: Nepal has registered a win by one-wicket against Canada in the ICC World Cricket League Division-II on February 14, 2018. The match held at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in Windhoek, Namibia has given Nepal an entrance to the ICC World Cup Qualifiers hosted by Zimbabwe from March 4 to March 25, 2018.

Karan KC, the man of the match, took the last minute lead to set a win for Nepal. He scored 31 balls out of 42, cracking three boundaries and four sixes. Nepal gained a 195-9 on the last ball of the 50th over whereas Canada made 194-8 at 50th over. Karan KC and Sharad Vesawkar contributed one wicket each whereas Basant Regmi and Sandip Lamichhane claimed 3-34 and 2-40 respectively.

Nepal has topped the charts with eight points and United Arab Emirates has finished as runner-up with six points. The West Indies, Ireland, The Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Scotland and Hong Kong have already qualified themselves for the tournament.

Nepal and UAE will play the final of the Division II tournament on February 21, 2018, and this result will determine the group Nepal will fall in. If Nepal wins the game, it will be placed in Group A of the tournament alongside the West Indies, Ireland, the Netherlands and PNG.
