NEPSE Continues To Fall

Kathmandu, Dec 6,2014: The Nepse index that slid 6.14 points compared to the first day of the previous week continues to decline this week also.

The country’s only stock market index which reached 863.14 points on the last day of the previous week dropped by 3.12 points on the last day of this week.

 

A total of 2,032,530 units of shares worth Rs 791.704 million of 157 companies were bought and sold from 8,964 transactions.

 

This transaction amount is 25.08 per cent more than the transaction amount of the last week. Last week, 1,442,190 unit shares worth Rs 634.410 million of 152 companies were bought and sold from 5822 transactions.

 

Looking at the group-wise fluctuation during the week, the commercial banks’ index has increased by 1.39 points and that of the production sector by 6.36 points, of other groups by 1.18 points whereas that of the trading group remains unchanged.

 

The indices of the development banks, financial institutions, hotels, hydroelectricity projects and the insurance companies groups is in the negative this week. The insurance group index saw a heavy drop of 81.27 points this week.

 

The sensitive index that measures the transactions of the Group A companies decreased by 0.02 points to 183.12 compared to the first day.

 

The main reason for the drop in the Nepse is the gloom seen in the investors due to the political instability, according to analysts.

Based on the transaction amount, Nepal Life Insurance Company is in the forefront and Nabil Balance Fund in terms of the number of shares transacted. The Laxmi Microfinance Company tops in terms of the number of transactions.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) trading floor remained open for five days this week for regular transactions. This week also there was no transaction of institutional and government bonds.

This week, 892,692 units of rights shares of the Alliance Insurance Company have been listed. Similarly, ordinary shares worth Rs 24 million 994 thousand and 782 of Nepal Bank and 100,000 rights shares of Civic Development Bank have been listed.
