Kalikot, Sept 24: Minister for Finance, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, has said that the new constitution has given special priority to Karnali.
Minister Mahat, who arrived here in course of monitoring the Karnali corridor linking Simikot of Humla to Hilsa, border of China, said that Karnali would now get a momentum to its development.
Addressing the programme organised after visiting the Lalighat Regil Cliff at Ruku VDC in the district, the Finance Minister directed the bodies concerned to expedite Karnali corridor construction works by using human resources and technology available with the Nepal Army.
Stating that the corridor would not face budget crunch as it is the project of national pride, he assured of making arrangement of required budget for the same.
He said, “Carryout works as soon as possible. I will make arrangement of the budget. The Karnali corridor will contribute a lot for the overall development of Karnali as well as province no 6 under the new federal structure.”
The estimated cost of the 196-kilometres corridor is Rs 2.84 billion.
