Kathmandu, Sept 1: Prime Minister and Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Sushil Koirala has appointed Prof Dr Jeevraj Pokharel of Lubhu, Lalitpur the Vice-chancellor of the NAST. The appointment was made on the basis of the recommendation made by a Committee formed for the same under the convenorship of the Minister for Science, Technology and Environment. The Committee comprised National Planning Commission Vice-chair Dr Govinda Pokharel and Environment Secretary Dr Krishna Chandra Poudel, according to the PM’s press coordinator Prakash Adhikari.
The Environment Minister is the ex-officio Co-chancellor of the Academy. The Environment Ministry is presently a portfolio assumed by Prime Minister Koirala. NAST Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Pokharel has been appointed for a four-year term.
