Kathmandu, May 16, 2016: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has said its attention has been drawn towards the editorial linking to Kanak Mani Dixit which was published in the New York Times on May 11.

In a press statement on Sunday, the CIAA said it found the editorial misleading and biased. “The editorial has presented Dixit as a good character and has even portrayed him as a law-abiding citizen of the society.” The editorial has even further said that Dixit is fully cooperated with the CIAA investigation.

Clarifying that the CIAA had arrested him for not cooperating with the investigations initiated upon him on serious complaints of having amassed wealth disproportionate to his income during his tenure as chairman of a state-owned transportation company, the CIAA said the Chief Commissioner does not even know Dixit in person and literally has no reason to have any rift or enmity with him.

Similarly, the press release said as far as the matter of Canadian citizen Robert Penner has been raised in the editorial linking him with the CIAA, the anti-graft body does not know anything about Penner and has nothing to do with his business in Nepal or beyond.
