Kathmandu,21 March 2015: A news portal in Nepal Bhasa or Newari language has been launched in Kathmandu today.
The news portal www.newaonlinenews.com, powered by Microsoft Innovation Centre, Nepal was launched with an objective of creating a bond amongst the Newari people home and abroad and catering them news in their mother tongue.
Stating that at the time when journalists are expected to break the news to the targeted group as earliest as possible through any medium, Allen Bailochan Tuladhar, Regional Director of Microsoft Innovation Company, argued that this newly launched news portal should also internalize the concept of ‘Citizen Journalism’.
In this concept, every citizen could file news as the incident occurs.
The contents of the news portal have been classified into 10 different categories, shared Birajkaji Rajopadhyaya, one of the editors of the portal.
