Kathmandu, April 29, 2016: Sunaulo Pariwar Nepal and Marie Stopes International have jointly launched a NewlyWed app to inform newly married couples on sexual and reproductive health.
The app has been brought into operation after the trend of underage marriage and early maternity rate did not come down despite attempts, Director of Marie Stopes Nepal KP Upadhyaya told.
According to Upadhyaya the app has been launched to tackle the problem that the newly wed couples would face in their life due to the lack of necessary information.
“Beside reproductive health, the app will also inform married people on how to maintain their conjugal relationship,” he added. According to him this app would be helpful to the other member of a family, as well.
Unveiled at a program on Thursday, the app is in English and it will come into Nepali language, soon. The app will be accompanied by a website www.newlywed.org.np which will strive to address the gap resulting from lack of communication between couples, lack of comprehensive information and planning culture in Nepal.
Marie Stopes International has branches in 43 different countries around the globe including Nepal.
