Kathmandu, December 6, 2018: The WE United Project organized its 5th Annual Women’s Futsal Tournament on December 1, 2018 at Grassroots Recreational Center in Mandikatar where eleven teams battled for the title of women’s futsal champion in the annual event. Over one hundred women and girls from different nationalities and age groups 14-45 years participated in the tournament.
In the championship, Sherpa Club and Bright Future School made to the semi-finals from Group A, and Futsal Arena and Kumari Futsal from Group B. However, in the final, recent Mahila Premier League Champions, Futsal Arena won the trophy with the goals of 3-1.
The tournament concluded with an award ceremony where the athletes received prizes generously donated by local business and enjoyed cake donated by Lakuri Cafe. This year’s awards were sponsored by: Mulberry Hotel, Sherpa Adventure Gear, Samsara Designs, Haushala Creatives, Astrek Climbing Wall, Nina’s Café, Bar Bar Black Sip, Trisara, Bota Momos, Hardik Futsal, Field Futsal, Best Archery, and Ayurvedic Health Home.
The WE United Project empowers women and girls in Kathmandu by creating safe spaces to impart leadership training, life skills development, and team building through dynamic sport-based activities.
