Bhaktapur,13 Jan 2015: Cadres of the 30-Party Alliance, which has called a banda (general strike) has attacked a media person in Bhaktapur this morning.
The banda enforcers attacked Sushil Bandhu Thapa, Chairman of the Rafat Sanchar Club and journalist at the Sagarmatha Television.
Thapa, riding on a motorcycle (Ba 34 Pa 9393) for news coverage of the banda, was attacked at Jagati, Bhaktapur at 11:30 am. Thapa is normal health condition.
Meanwhile, Bhaktapur chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has protested the attack on the journalist.
Issuing a press release, FNJ Bhaktapur chapter President Amar Bhujel demanded action against the guilty, saying its serious attention was drawn towards the incident of attack on a journalist by the banda enforcers.
The FNJ also requested the bodies concerned including the agitating side to create environment conducive for collecting and disseminating news in a free and fear-free manner, saying the incident of attack on working journalist was serious.
Whereas, condemning the attack on the journalist, Bhaktapur In-charge of the CPN-Maoist, Devendra Shrestha, said that attacking on the journalist was not their intention.
