Bereaved families of Mumbai fire victims wish to perform last rites in Nepal

Taulihawa,31 Dec 2014: Families of those killed in a fire at timber factory in Mumbai, India recently have expressed their wish to perform the last rites of their dear ones in the country itself.

Five people of Satbhara of Kushahawa-8 and two of Baraipur in Kapilvastu had lost their lives to the incident took place on December 26. Three people have been injured.

The bereaved families have pleaded with the authorities concerned to make necessary arrangements to bring the victim’s bodies to Nepal.

Uttama Launiya of Satbhara who lost her two adult sons- Gauri, 32, and Raju, 25, in the tragic incident, wished that she could at least see the bodies one last time. Raju’s spouse Bidhyamati also wishes to get a glimpse of her husband’s face.

Chief District Officer Binod Prakash Singh shared his telephone talks with Nepal’s Charge d’ affaires for India, Krishna Dhakal, and said he has pledged to take initiatives for compensation to the victims’ families and to bring the bodies to Nepal.

Political leaders from the district Deep Kumar Upadhyay and Surendra Acharya are learnt to be doing their best to ensure compensation and relief assistance to the victims’ families. Munnilal Yadav, Lautu Murau and Sani Raidas of Satbhara were those killed in the fire along with the Launiya brothers. Like Ram Dayal Bhar and Niraj Chaudhary of Baraipur-8 were charred to death in the incident.

Although earlier eight Nepali were supposedly killed in the incident, but one was confirmed to be an Indian national.
