Chance For Consensus Comes To An End-Chairperson Dahal

Kathmandu,2 Feb 2015: Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stressed the need to make street protest effective as the chance for promulgating new constitution in the spirit of consensus has almost come to an end.Addressing leaders and cadres of sister organizations of the party at a programme at party central office, Parisdanda, on Monday, he said the chance for consensus is almost in doldrums with ruling parties’ unilaterally brushing aside past accords and agreements.

He claimed that the dialogue and consensus do not make any sense till ruling parties shun the mentality of taming signatory of peace accord with use of force.

“We are still ready to sit for a dialogue if the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-UML opt to move ahead mending January 25 wrong practice in the CA. Otherwise there is no option but to go among the people”, he added.

Chairperson Dahal went on saying that his party had pursued no interest other than establishing people’s rights and accused ruling parties of making CA the hostage of indecision in the pretext of numerical strength.

He made it clear that they never advocated for delineating provinces in line with ethnicity but are stuck to grant equal rights to all castes and ethnic groups.

The Sunday central committee meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) had decided to go for a struggle stating there was no chance for framing the constitution on the basis of a consensus.
