Cleaning Campaign by the Tourism Students

Kathmandu, August 22, 2018: The students from Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) collected 16 sacks of abandoned trashes from Telkot to Nagarkot hiking trial on Tuesday.  The initiative was taken to aware people about the proper waste disposal along the hiking routes. The trash includes various non- biodegradable wastes such as plastic bottles, wrappers of chocolates, biscuits,noodles and tobacco packets.

Bishnu Tamang,  a young tourism entrepreneur was the initiator of this cleaning campaign who mentioned how littering of  toxic substances like plastic can create negative impact to the tourists.

The Chairman of Changunarayan Municipality Ward-6 , Santa Bahadur Waiba appreciated the efforts of the students and expects villagers to learn from them.

Likewise, the students also had a discussion with the locals about the importance of waste management in tourism spots. The locals mentioned that despite of increase in the number of domestic hikers, they are not so responsible about proper disposal of trashes.

The hike was nearly about three hours where almost 6 dozens students participated.
