Birgunj (Parsa), Jan 4: President of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal Upendra Yadav has said that a constitution promulgated based on a majority would be acceptable if it addresses the spirit of the people at large.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the party here today, President Yadav however warned that the people would write their own constitution if the new constitution does not address the sentiment of the people.
Stating that there was no possibility of a new constitution on January 22, he said only meaningful talks could lead to promulgation of a new constitution. Mr Yadav also stressed that the new constitution should be promulgated only after the draft is taken to the people for their endorsement.
“Our party is for an autonomous Madhesh province”, he said while accusing the government of failing to implement the agreements reached in the past. The task of drafting the constitution cannot be given to the CA chair, he added.
