Kathmandu, March 28, 2018: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) office has come with the new concept for effective management of plastic waste in seven busiest areas by placing vending machines.
The office has planned to settle such containers in major city areas because of rapidly growing urban pollution of plastic waste.
According to the KMC private-public partnership Unit Chief Mahesh Kafle, the machine will be put in the exact location of major areas and the individual will get an extra balance on their mobile phone for using the vending machine.
A person should enter personal details including cell phone number into the system as exactly the ATM system to get paid.
The use of the vending machine is not new in the world but new in Nepal. KMC has planned to install such machine at Tribhuvan International Airport, New Road, and Durbarmarg at the first phase.
The theme of the vending machine is to clean city and also reuse the package of the product. So in the vending machine, users can put mineral water bottles, cold drink bottles and packaging of cheese balls and instant noodles after using those products.
