Environment of trust foiled: MJF Chair Yadav

Biratnagar, Feb 8: Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF)-Nepal, Upendra Yadav, has said that the new constitution should be promulgated through a consensus to be acceptable to all.

Talking to media persons at his residence at Biratnagar today, Yadav expressed the view that the act of the ruling parties of not implementing the previous agreements and ignoring consensus has foiled the environment of trust.

He expressed the view that environment conducive for talks would only be created if the ruling parties expressed commitment to include the previous agreement signed with the Madhesi Alliance, UCPN (Maoist) and Indigenous nationalities in the new constitution and agree to write the new constitution through consensus.

Yadav also warned of launching a strong agitation in the country if attempts were made to bring the new constitution on the basis of two thirds majority.

Responding to a query of media persons regarding the proposal tabled by MJF-Democratic Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Yadav said, “The federal republicanism will be at risk if the proposal of Gachchhadar is accepted.” Yadav blamed that Gachchhadar brought the proposal at the behest of the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML).

The MJF-Nepal Chairman clarified that the new constitution should be promulgated by incorporating aspiration of parties, who are in favour of change, and ending discrimination against Madhesi, indigenous nationalities, women, Dalits.
