Kathmandu, 28 Dec 2014: As the four-party taskforce failed to troubleshoot the contentious issues of the new constitution till Sunday, responsibility of the task has once again gone to the top leaders of the major four political forces.

The four-member taskforce comprising one representative each from Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), UCPN (Maoist) and Madhesi Front verbally reported to the top leaders without resolving the disputed issues.

The panel submitted its report at a meeting of the top leaders held at the prime minister’s official residence this evening.

The top leaders’ meeting ended today with the decision to hold the final and decisive talks to draw a conclusion on the contentious issues of new constitution.

After the meeting, UML vice-chairman Bhim Rawal said that the taskforce failed to crack the nuts despite intensive talks and the responsibility was handed over to the top leaders considering that the issues should be resolved from the top level.

Rawal said the top leaders would meet at 8 am tomorrow for further talks.

Likewise, Nepali Congress vice-chairman Ram Chandra Poudel said that the panel has reached near to consensus but the top leaders would finalize the remaining issues soon after the proposal was submitted to the top leaders for ending the debate.

Similarly, UCPN (Maoist) Vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that the panel has prepared a basis for discussion at the top level to find common ground on the contents of a new constitution.
