Kathmandu,10 Feb 2015: Chairperson of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (Democratic) Bijaya Gachhadar has said the country could no longer afford to bear agitation and conflict.

Leader Gachhedar asserted this while receiving a memorandum submitted by journalists in the capital today.

Stating that he was not endorsing the idea of agitation, Gacchedar urged other parties to move ahead in the spirit of consensus rather than walking out of path of consensus.

Gachherdar, who is leading Madesh-centric parties under the 30-party alliance led by UCPN (Maoist), argued that there was no alternative to consensus as the country could no longer bear the brunt of strike, shutdown and agitation.

Asking Prime Minister Sushil Koirala to show maximum flexibility for consensus, Gachhedar opined that it was responsibility of the Prime Minister to create environment conducive for consensus which was at the standstill.

He also requested the PM to halt the report prepaid by the Questionnaire Committee and call opposition for talks.

The ruling parties should give up the pride of delivering the constitution through the two-third majority, Gachchhadar added.
