Kathmandu,2 March 2015: The government has claimed 95 per cent progress on search operation for perpetrator(s) involved in the February 22 acid attack on two schoolgirls in the capital.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that it had got 95 per cent progress on the manhunt for the attacker(s). Now the police have reached near to attacker(s), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs informed the meeting of State Affairs Committee of the Legislature-Parliament Monday. At the meeting, the Home Minister was questioned for a delay in arresting the attacker(s). He pledged to book the guilty soon.
He went on saying that political parties and other various groups focusing on ethnic, regional and religious politics had posed a serious challenge to country’s peace and security. The recent activities of UCPN (Maoist)-led alliance, activities of various political and criminal gangs centered on the eastern Tarai and hills were the challenges in maintaining peace and security in the country.
In his defense to the charges of financial and political disputes in the processes of new recruitment, transfer and promotion in police force, the Home Minister said all the processes went through a legal and institutional system. The lawmakers present in the meeting suggested the government to make necessary revisions to laws and introduce and enforce new laws to control the cases of girl rape which had drastically gone up these days and new forms of crimes had come to the scene. The government was urged not to allow any criminals walk free under the political colour.
The lawmakers complained that the government mechanism for preparations and rehabilitation works in relation to natural disasters was very weak and called for its improvement.
The meeting was learnt to have directed the Home Minister to do all the needful to maintain peace and security in the country.
Home Secretary Surya Prasad Silwal and Inspector General of Police Upendra Kant Aryal were also present at the meeting.
