Birgunj (Parsa), Jan 19: Property worth tens of millions has been gutted by fire at Simara early this morning.

The fire destroyed the property after the Jagadamba Industry at Birgunj-Pathalaiya Industrial Corridor caught fire due to short circuit, according to police.

Administrative Officer at the Industry, Kundan Dhakal, said no human casualty was reported in the incident but the fire caused massive physical losses. Dhakal said that property worth more than Rs 10 million was gutted by the fire as it destroyed 30 motors, the cooling bed, electric cables and raw materials.

Regular activities of the industry have been disrupted today due to the fire, it is learnt.

The fire was doused after one and half hour with the support of police personnel. Fire engines of Birgunj Sub-Metropolitan City and Nepal Oil Corporation Regional Office, Amlekhgunj were used in putting out the inferno, according to the Industry.

The industry is one of the biggest industries in the country.
