Kathmandu, 18th December,2014:Â Â Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that this was the last opportunity to the country for the institutional development of peace, stability and republicanism as well as for the socio-economic development.
Prime Minister Koirala said so during a meeting with a joint delegation of different student organisations at the official
residence of the Prime Minister in Baluwatar on Thursday.
The delegation reached at Baluwatar to submit a memorandum demanding launching of Mechi-Mahakali Campaign to exert pressure for constitution writing, slashing price hike, reducing transportation fair and holding a election of Free Students Union at the Tribhuvan University affiliated colleges.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister said that there was no need of further movement as the country has already gained historic achievements including federalism, democracy and inclusive republicanism.
PM Koirala said, “Let’s institutionalize the achievements. There is no need of next movement as the new constitution will protect the rights of all Nepali including indigenous, Dalits, Muslims, oppressed and marginalized communities.”
Koirala said doors to development are now opened in the country. The recent PTA and PDA deals with India have created an investment-friendly environment in the country.
Raising issue of the ongoing agitation in Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project, he urged the students to take the message to the general people that the investors who have already made investments in the country, would not have to face any hassles.
PM Koirala said the issue of the new constitution, peace, stability and development is concerned to youth and the entire new generation, and urged the students to exert pressure on all political leaders to bring the new statute on time.
The PM reiterated his commitment to step down from his post after the promulgation of new constitution.
The delegation comprises representatives of 11 student organisations including Nepal Student’s Union, All Nepal National Free Student’s Union, Madhesi Students’ Front and All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary, among others.
