Kathmandu, 4th January, 2015 : Lawmakers speaking in the review meeting of the Development Committee of the Legislature-Parliament today stressed on the effective enforcement of the committee’s decision made so far.
Today’s meeting, besides reviewing the decisions made by the committee so far, also discussed on how to move forward on the decisions
still not implemented.
The committee members expressed that the implementation was becoming more challenging as the bad practice of some influential people selecting the district plans while staying at the centre was on the rise, adding that selection of projects and allocation of budget was also done on arbitrary manner by these people.
The lawmakers demanded that the project selection be done on an institutional manner and not on the basis of access to power.
Also, the committee members vented their ire at several government ministries and government bodies, citing that they failed to comply the directives the committee issued them and even if followed were done in their own manner.
Committee president Rabindra Adhikari chaired the review meeting. The lawmakers expressed their views on the committee’s decisions from August 31 to December 22.
