Kathmandu,7 March 2015: CPN-UML leader Madav Kumar Nepal has stressed the need to protect women rights in the to-be-promulgated constitution.

At a programme organized here today by Motidevi Memorial Centre on the occasion of 105th international Labour Women Day, he said women in Nepal are still not entitled to enjoy full equal rights through their participations in different change movements were remarkable.

Women’s role in policy-making could be made effective only when their representation in every state organs was ensured, he said, underlining the urgency to promulgate democratic constitution through Constituent Assembly (CA) at the earliest.

The national integrity should not be jeopardized and his party would not make any compromise in keeping social goodwill, leader Nepal added.

“The development and governance now should be made the agenda of the state”, he said.

On the occasion, Nepal launched a book ‘Inspiring Women’. The book has incorporated the struggling stories of trend-setting women leaders of Nepal including Motidevi Shrestha, Yogmaya, Dwarika Devi Thakurathi, Rebanta Kumari Acharya, Kamakshya Devi Rana, Sadhana Adhikari, Mangala Devi Singh, Sahana Pradhan, Nanimaiya Nakarmi, Kankalata Bajracharya, Snehalata Shrestha, Indira Chapagain, Leela Koirala and Shailaja Achayra.
