Local Waste-Entrepreneurs Khaalisisi Dashain Tika Ceremony held

Kathmandu, October 23, 2018: Khaalisisi.com hosted a historic event where for the very first time, near-about 100 Khaalisisi friends (local waste-entrepreneurs) gathered together at Hotel Himalaya, today on October 21, 2018 to celebrate Dashain. The chief guests of the event were Honorable Minister of Forest and Environment, Mr. Shakti Bahadur Basnet and Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Mr. Chirri Babu Maharjan.

Ms. Aayushi KC, Founder and CEO, Khaalisisi.com inaugurated the event by sharing Khaalisisi’s vision to build Nepal as the world’s top 20 recycling nation by 2030. Environmentalist Mr. Bhusan Tuladhar talked about entrepreneurship in different forms in the waste industry. He gave an extraordinary example of an entrepreneur who sells used shoes in return for onions in Bhatkapur. LMC Mayor Mr. Chirri Babu Maharjan spoke about the challenges in the waste industry and said that efficient waste-management is his top priority. Honorable Minister of Forest and Environment, Mr. Shakti Bahadur Basnet encouraged Khaalisisi friends (waste-entrepreneurs) to continue the efforts towards recycling and suggested to have more programs at the government and national level.

Mukesh Yadav, a local Khaalisisi friend (waste-entrepreneur) was awarded for his contribution in the waste-sector. He is one of the first to join Khaalisisi.com He delivered a speech for the first time in an event like this asking his friends and colleagues to work harder. Yubaraj Parajuli, teacher, Machhapuchhre School, one of Khaalisisi clients shared his experience about the school’s association with the company and how it was inspired the students at the school to start recycling at home and school. Also in the event were Mr. Hari Bahadur Kunwar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Environment Division Chief and Dr.Anand Shova Tamrakar, a veteran in the waste-management industry with contribution in this sector for over 40 years.

Near-about a hundred Khaalisisi friends in the audience were inspired and motivated by the speeches. For almost everyone in the audience, it was their time attending a formal event. To be among Minister, Mayor and highest elected government officials and respected individuals from the waste industry, our Khaalisisi friends (waste-entrepreneurs) were touched and left the event with a very positive attitude. Everyone at the event enjoyed the refreshments and left the event with a gift from Khaalisisi.com which was a digital weighing machine. The staff members at Hotel Himalaya mentioned they were very impressed by one-of-a-kind event to be ever hosted at their hotel.

This event’s main objective was to give our Khaalisisi friends a sense of belonging to the society and culture; where for more than 50 years, they are left out in such festive occasions.
