Kathmandu, June 15, 2018: A taskforce has been formed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to recommend amends in provisions related to technical and vocational training (TEVT).

The taskforce led by Prof Pramod Shrestha is assigned with suggesting change in the legal and policy and policy mechanisms of technical education and vocational training (TEVT) in the changed context of the country. It will also recommend ways to introduce one door system for TEVT operation which had so far been implemented through multiple channels. The taskforce will also forward recommendations on the proposed policy and institutional mechanism on technical education and vocational training to make the overall education system employment-oriented, skill intensive, useful and professional as informed by Baikauntha Aryal, Spokesperson at the Ministry.

The taskforce consists Sunil Babu Shrestha, Rajendra Adhikari, Prof Tanka Nath Sharma and Education Ministry’s Joint Secretaery Hari Lamsal where under secretary Mukunda ani Khanal will serve as the member secretary.

The government plans to establish at least one technical education center in all the local levels in the upcoming years. The Prime Minister made an announcement regarding the establishment of the technical education centers after assuming office.
