Monarchy Can't be Restored: Chairman Oli

Kathmandu,25 Feb 2015: Chairman of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, has said the monarchy cannot be restored in the country now.

Addressing a cadres’ orientation organized by the party-affiliated Youth Association Nepal here on Wednesday, Chairman Oli said the statement of former King Gyanendra Shah that the political parties need to implement the agreement they had with him was just an abortive effort to show his presence.

“Where is the loktantra that rejects the promulgation of constitution on two thirds majority?” he queried while stressing the need to bring the constitution through a vote immediately. The UML, as he said, was not against the Madhes.

Chairman Oli further said the role of the youths in the party was to deflect the charge the party has been labeled, and to make clear how phony the protest programmes of the UCPN-Maoist are.

On the occasion, Chairperson of the Association, Niru Pal, said the Association was going to stage sit-in before the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) so as to press it to probe into the embezzlement of the funds provided to the camp of the Maoist combatants.

Meanwhile, a disgruntling faction of the Association led by Nilu Pant, has decided to ask the party leadership why and how erstwhile chairman Basnet handed over the chair of the Association to Niru Pal.
