Mumbai Attack Suspect Lakhvi Released On Bail In Pakistan

Mumbai attack suspect bailed by pakistan

April 10, 2015: Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi,the suspected mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks has been released on bail from Pakistani jail on Friday morning.

His custody was declared void by the High Court, which ordered his release. As per India media report,India’s Home
Minister Rajnath Singh has called the release “unfortunate and disappointing”.

Mr Lakhvi who was arrested by Pakistan on 7 December 2008, four days after he was named by Indian officials as one of the major suspects had been granted bail in December, but was kept in custody under public order legislation.

He is one of seven men facing trial over the attacks, which left 166 people dead and damaged peace efforts between the two countries.

Mr Lakhvi was accused of heading the violence blamed on militants of the Lashkar-e-Taiba group (LeT).A spokesman for Jamaat-ud-Dawa, a charity accused of links to LeT said that Mr Lakhvi was free now and in a secure place.

It is not exactly informed where is he at the moment for security reasons.
